Worms are decomposers. Decomposers are the insects that break up other material to bring nutrients back to the soil. If the world did not have insects like worms around, the soil would never have nutrients in it.
Environment
Worms like to stay underground most of the time. The only time they will ever come out of the soil is if the soil has to much water in it. They can not survive in dry dirt.
Eat
Worms are decomposers so they will eat anything that is dead or rotting. Examples are dead animals, rotting fruit, and dead plants.
Life Span
Worms can live 4-8 years if conditions are right.
